The right data refers to things that are relevant to what is being researched, so if you are trying to establish a link between covid vaccinations and excess deaths, why would you use data that also includes those who died of covid? If someone died as a result of covid then covid vaccination was not the primary cause and likewise if someone died of something else they didn't die of covid.
