tractor advice

Hi all

 

Im looking at buying a second hand tractor, a ford 7810(I think).

It has no reg plate and has never been registered on the road, im told.

 

Is there any way I can check to see if this has been stolen?, before I buy it.

 

I spoken with the DVLA and they weren't very help full, they told to fill a form out to registered it, but takes weeks.

 

 

Any advice would be great

DVLA are unhelpful/useless at this sort of thing.

Do you want to register it for the road?

I tried to fill a form in to register a tractor. They sent it back and basically said get a tractor club to sort it. I sent photos. Serial numbers, receipt for purchase. Even contacted the uk agent to get a production date from manufacturer. Printed that off still not good enough.

I have read somewhere that DVLA contact tractor clubs to ask for help!

 

 

As for whether it's stolen. Give serial number to police is about it.

Yes, tractor club is way to go. My friend bought a TW20 a few years ago that had been imported from Holland and used on a farm for a particular job and never registered. Ford Owners Club sorted it all out very efficiently.

 

Funnily enough, Classic Tractor magazine has just listed sales figures for 2015 plus "new" used registrations,ie. tractors registered for the first time. 145 Fords were reg for first time in 2015 as well as 44 David Browns!

A friend of mine bought a David Brown and contacted the owners club with the numbers on the chassis and engine along with some pictures and was helpfully supplied with the original registration by its first owner. Good result saved him some time and bother.

Theres a list of clubs on the DVLA web site that DVLA use as "experts" to verify the tractors age and model from the info you give the club. Once the club has verified the age and model DVLA will then give the tractor an age related plate. Search the DVLA web site for V765 which is the old vehicle registration scheme.
