Hi fella's,

 

If trees are my first passion, life as a grazier/contractor is my second. We have a bit of gear hanging round. Dad said "where there's wheels there's worry" he was right and if there's tracks the trouble costs twice as much. :001_huh:

Being a life long Northern Ireland resident from farming stock.

I dont half take it bloody strange to see the fire extinguishers as standard kit on Ag machinery.

Are they grab and direct.

Or actually "plumbed in" to critical hot locations per some race cars?

Hey man, standard kit round here. Our dryer spring/summer climate not only yields good growth of improved and native pasture but curing from 50% to 100% is a matter of a couple of weeks in some regions. Fast moving grass fires are a regular occurrence in a dry summer/autumn and we are obligated to carry equipment to potentially mitigate any accidental ignition from equipment such as mowers, slashers and mulchers. The Johny is fitted with a portable 10 lt knapsack as a first attack measure. The baler is a different kettle of fish, its fitted with a portable 9lt pressurized extinguisher for tackling bearing failures that ignite the rubber belts, dust and grass swarf littered throughout the baler, again a common occurrence throughout our harvest season.
