SRT retrievable redirect

After a philosophy session i had during my internship at the amsterdam councill i came up with this idea.

It's kind of a hybrid ropeguide with a carabiner instead of the pulley. i tried it out on the ground and seems to be working like a charm, going to try it out this weekend up the tree

Don't you have to thread your line through from the end and remove your device for that?

whats the benefit over a natural crotch? I can pull my line out of that at the end of the climb too. Midline retrievable is the only kind worth bothering with for my money..

I can see an advantage only if you want to potentially reduce the risk of damage to the bark / rope or if there isnt a decent crotch where you want it - (and have the cambium saver wraped on itself so it didnt slip). I cant think of a tree i have done with SRT that only needed the one redirect (maybe only one at a time but it needed moving to work) Midline retrievable anchors are the way forward IMOP - can use the IMP or i find it works well with an anchor ring, a bit of string and a small Krab, - But still the rope guide mod looks cool.

Nice thinking, but the purpose it serves could be achieved by spending pennies rather than pounds.

i agree, it's expensive, only works in certain situations. But it's just another trick in the bag.

Looks handy. Like others have said probably not worth buying one but if you've got one being neglected in your kit bag ...
