Bought off eBay so don't know history, alarm bells rang when I noticed remains of two old workshop tag's

Anyhow second tank of fuel and it lost all compression,

Gonna strip it, but is there any tell tale signs of what caused it while taking it apart,

Put some pictures up later

I expect there will be scores down the piston and aluminum transfer on the bore . This can be caused by any number of things . An air leak causing it to run lean ( split fuel pipe . bad crank seals etc etc ) bad / old mix . Carb adjustment wrong . . Make sure you find the cause before rebuilding it as it will only go again .

Usually the bore can be salvaged and a new OEM or Metior piston fitted / To find the best way of salvaging the bore have a look on Spuds " whats on your bench " thread or give him a pm .

You are open to some options now like fitting a 372 top end and carb .......

You out of the 30 return period?

I've been screwed a few times by buyers on this recently, but in your case maybe you can make it work in your favour?

You don't need to return the saw within 30 days, just start the 'not as described' claim.

If you're within the 30 days, you'll definitely win the case as eBay ALWAYS sides with buyer.
