Gear/loler paperwork?

I sat and recorded all my stuff today and came across a slight problem. I bought a set of 5 Alpidex 3 way crabs from Germany. I can't find serial numbers in them. They have CE marks etc but no serials. Do I need to make some up and etch them in? Will that have a negative effect on their strength?

Just make sure you mark it on a non load bearing part like the gate

If you can't scribe it on the gate due to the knurling it is permissible to etch it on the spine of the Krab. Just remember that you mustn't remove any more than 10% of the material. (It is very unlikely that you will do that just by lightly engraving numbers on the spine)

Can it be a simple 1, 2, 3 etc or is there a particular method?

Anything as long as it's uniquely identifiable.

The guidelines say you can engrave either the gate or other non load bearing part of the carabiner......
