I hear you but don't agree. In the birch example. When you are defending on a pole tie a running bowline and long tail. You can then decend to the next cutting point or just flip them both down.

 

 

 

That way you always have a bail out option of things go sticky. You can do this of course with ddrt but I find it easier than faffing with a cambium saver.

 

 

Unless you're cutting manageable lumps, so no need to descend. Then the only benefit is the quick bail out. Let's face it, on a small birch, not anissue.

When I find two in a garden Rich I'll race you to prove which is quicker.

The bailout option is sensible like, but a choked bowline and fig8 would be just as quick as reaching for the SRT bag?

Maybe it's just because I'm crap at advancing SRT systems.
