If it was me id recommend removing alder and plant something else that wont trigger allergins

Allergin: abnormally vigorous immune response to Juniper based clear spirits:001_rolleyes:

FTR it doesn't trigger the allergen, pollen is the allergen

I recall some floral inhibitors being gibberellic acid-based, though their efficacy I cannot fully comment on (asides from what I have read, which is that they exist).

Just found this (suggests ethylene, another plant hormone, may also be something to utilise) - How to Stop Olive Trees From Flowering | Garden Guides

Thanks mate it's nice to look down alternative routes and avoid the chop if possible.

But I think this one is going to need a quicker alternative. But I would like to start looking in to these methods as alternatives as I like to avoid cutting trees down if possible.

I'd love to know if these chemicals are on the market.

It's kind of an emergency job by the sounds of it the guy has got a blinding headache and can't breath very well, he's been given some antibiotics. I kind of sympathise with them on this one. They avoided buying a house with a birch in.

Yes it'll be the pollen. Some people get hay fever from grass pollen some from tree pollen. Antibiotics won't help he will need Benadryl or the like, even cheaper than pollarding the tree every year

I was on about the chemicals to stop the tree producing the pollen in the first place.

No worries. :)

And I understand. This needs a more immediate solution, whilst a chemical solution is going to take some time to plan.

It's something I will be looking in to for future solutions. I will pull some articles from the net and see what I can find out. Thanks again :-)
