Sorry but why do they think they are above the law? I'm not racist but they are the root of more trouble, scum!

??? Were does the OP say they are above the law ? :confused1: I agree that this particular breed of " travellers " are scum bags .

I didn't say the op said that, I was asking the question as to why they think they are above the law, I said sorry because some folk think the sun shines out of their arses.

Oh . I see . We had some of those types systematically dismantle our horse lorry whilst we were away . Took the diesel as well .

Crime mysteriously follows a lot of them around, a load cut steel barriers on old council yard and parked up there for a week, same week lass from riding school had horse box towed away early morning. Police seem to be unable to do anything!

I doubt if they think there above the law, just as long as they "earn" thousands from the innocent, naïve or foolish every week, & police are to lazy to put enough work into catching them they will continue to do so.

At least this bunch were jailed.

I think the farmer should have had a another response though......

The only incident I've personal knowledge in was a theft of a Unimog from Halifax. Atkinson voss alerted the owner that they'd been contacted for a part for it from a site in Coventry.

The owner met a detective there who took him on a drive past, but admitted the local force was to poorly manned to enter the site. So a no go area.

The owner walked onto the site and retrieved it. I suspect he would have driven over anyone or anything in his way tbh. But it's a poor state of affairs and may explain the polices apparent lack of activity in some of theses situations.

maybe this time the ringleaders will actually serve their full sentence as they have been jailed for this before

I wouldn't think so; it was only the one time previously and none of them really meant to do it, one has even written to the victim to apologise!

My aunt researched our family history and found some old court records from way back like early 1800's it was something about one of my ancestors had to give evidence in a case regarding theft of some linen or clothes; however the goods stolen were valued at 11 shillings and sixpence this value was not random amount because if you were convicted of stealing 12 shillings or more - you swung that was it!

Nowadays it seems the more you steal the less harshly you are dealt with.
