Ian and his team are a top bunch of guys and I would totally recommend them to anyone remotely close to Staffordshire.

As to approaching local arb firms, when I started out last year (at the ripe old age of 31) I just emailed a few people/companies with a brief note of who I was and what I wanted to do and went from there. You get a few mixed reactions but if you are honest and write in full sentences with proper English, you'll get a start I'm sure.

Brilliant. Thanks, man. BTW - what's been your experience when approaching local arbs?

It's varied really.

Mainly I don't hear anything.

Then it's being told that they don't have enough work to take me on.

Then I have a handful say there maybe something soon.

Nothing has come to fruition as yet, but I will get in touch with them all again.

Did you get anywhere since your last post?

So you got the CS38 too? Is the main barrier experience then?

Yeah, got my 38.

My main barrier is pay. What I need and what the industry pays for my level of experience don't marry... Just one of those things at the mo

We are into silly season and you should posts start appearing for an extra pair of hands. It may be just a one off or a few days. Take the chance, slog your guts out and you will be surprised how opportunities open up for you
