Hi. Recently bought a stihl ms 170 chainsaw and purchased the oil to mix with the petrol. I have a bottle of 2 stroke oil in the garage and wondered if i could you this instead of buying more. Does anyone know?

The OPs oil is better than Stihl HP and possibly likely better than the XP; Husq are sheepish about their specifiactions... hmmm

Yes your right stubby TCD is an encyclopaedia on oils :thumbup:

I did plenty of 4-stroke engine tribology research back in the day; less so 2-cycle but the fundamentals of lubrication in wear and heat are pretty well documented; basestock first; additive after. There are lubes that major on the add pack because the basestock is so crap...

Good Jaso spec (D) on the bottle - comma is Esso - would trust that...

I note that the oil is " Recommended by Comma for applications requiring "

Nice marketing no spec is given for what is in the bottle !
