Climber moving to Stockholm

Hello,

 

in 3 weeks time i'll be closing my business and moving to Sweden. I'll be looking for climbing work, but am unsure as to whether i should work for a company or go self employed. I'll be driving to Sweden so will take all my kit with me (climbing kit, chainsaws, hedge cutters, backpack leaf blower etc...). Any advice will be much appreciated.

Cheers Kevin, im taking the leap! my missus has lived in stockholm for over ten years so she's pretty much set up there. i just need to move in and find a job. I've been back and forth for 3 years so ive got a fair idea. still bricking it though!!

Well done Paul, A big move no doubt but how exciting- Out of interest do you speak Swedish and if not do you think that will hinder you getting work? Is your girlfriend Swedish

 

I ask as my wife is from Norrkopping, 1.5 hours west of Stockholm or so, we would like to move back to Sweden, and I'd love to but do worry about getting work as i don't speak a word of Swedish really.

i know about ten swedish words so far and half of them are obscene, i will pick it up though. I dont think it will hinder my chances of employment as pretty much everyone is fluent in english, and my missus is swedish. I'll keep you informed on my progress if you like.

In stockholm you have two big companies, Trädmästarna and Jackson trädvård, both employ a lot of brittish arborists, so you can get away with not knowing a lot of swedish, and I think they are both interested in more people as they both have more work than they have time for according to my classmates who worked with them the last couple of months (work experience during education).
