Tuffty the Squirrel

I have just finished this carving...... need to do some finger sanding etc, but again im open to feedback especially as im trying to find my style of carving.

 

Im sure anyone born in the 60's or earlier will recall the name....

He, or she? doesn't look very happy.... looks decidedly miserable!

Has he/she just witnessed a friend or family member being squished by passing traffic?

Not much wrong with that ... don't like the paint but its a good pose. My first squirrel looked like the one squished by passing traffic.

Thanks Steve and FriarsGorse, im never sure about applying paint to a carving...... then its too late but i take onboard what you say.

Tuffty didnt look left, look right and then look left again before being hit by the chainsaw......

 

Tuffty has now sold for £45, i will have a go at another one tomorrow.

Has anyone tried carving roadkill versions of these animals?.... or birds of prey sliced in half by wind turbines?

Although not sure there's much of a market for them.... then again, there maybe plenty of weird customers on eBay that would pay a handsome price.

I've seen a few road kill carvings, raccoons with tyre tracks and the like so I'm guessing 'twas a carver across the pond. It's one I'd like to try someday.
