Looking at buying a Viking MB650T

Have been speaking to my local mower man, and he says although they are good mowers, they do have drive issues.

Has anyone experienced this?

I have 3 of them , only issues I have come across is the variable speed pulley ,its a piece of piss to replace (5 mins) and relatively cheap £30 . They crack if you hit a object has pulley is located above blade .

Excellent mowers and very user friendly, look in the mower bench thread and you will see the models I use , picture of all of them after service.

I've got the 650VM. When it's working it's great. Had drive issues but they appear to be sorted now.

The mulch is worth the extra money in my book. The collection in the wet is very good as well.

On any self propelled walk behind 19-22 inch mower that is commercially used, there are drive issues but the Viking is easy to fix and parts are cheap and readily available

Talking of mowers have you got any etesias in at the minute looking for a pro 46 I think

Get the Viking 3 geared model 👍🏻 Very good mower, I've two they don't give much hassle, lightweight, fast and a nice finish 👍🏻

I am looking into buying the mb 545vm model for commercial use. Are they reliable?

I use to use big toro commercial mowers for the little hand mowing we do. But got a very cheap second hand 650 Viking.. I am very impressed with it. As mentioned above. Light fast and leaves a nice finish.

 

Reliability wise their as good as any professional manufacturer. (JD, Toro, Hayter etc) they are a Stihl company after all.

 

I was finding the large toro one very heavy, at speed of it bounced at all it would leave a mark on the lawn, also hernia time lifting it in and out of the pickup all day, needless to say the Toro (even though both are 3 speed mowers) is marginally quicker over the ground, but better for council cutting rather than a fine lawn finish.

 

You'll not go far wrong with a Viking.

 

Why the 545? 6-series 21" is a good size unless you've got very small places to cut. Worth the extra $$
