I did a repair and light port on a DCS7901 recently. The saw had fast pickup but never got the time to use it but the build looked pretty good to me. The circlip tang had come off and caused a bit of naughtiness in the cylinder but was able to repair it as one does.

The low screw on this saw was adjustable but the H screw was blanked by a plug in the side recoil cover. I just tached the saw, removed the cover, gave the H screw a wiggle and returned the cover and got it to around 13000rpm. I think the max is 13500 and the coil is limited so watch out for that!

Haven't got any feedback on the saw yet!

Ordered a new bar for it last night, I'll give it a whirl next week and let you know how it goes, it was a good saw before so it will be interesting to see how it performs.

357 it great btw..

i reckon it can be done, but only with collateral to the aluminium shrouding that surrounds the screws. would probs have to take the carb off too! all the odd size tools can be had from amazon for £15 ish. There's a video on the net of a guy using an electrical connector to do the job. might try that

We have had a few of these saws and the newer model is still an animal excellent saws they definitely give the others a run for their money

The 6401 is great! Iv left it as stock, and it handles my 28" bar no problems. But the price the bigger saws are/were listed at I'd have went bigger no questions.

Okay so this is the tool I made, does the job but needs a bit of pressure behind it. I used a little screw driver to scribe the top of the H screw so I gauge progress.. So far I've backed the H screw out until I can hear a reduction in max rpm and then went back in a 1/8th of a turn. Defo pulls harder in the cut now :) gonna do a plug chop on Monday to see if it's happy or not.

To be honest mate the 7900 is on the limit weight wise for me, definitely appreciate the 261 after using the 7900 for a while! It's currently running an 18" bar which is too small for the saw Imo, unstoppable in the cut but not very well balanced
