Fitting winch to tracked chipper

That is a great addition to a my favourite chipper MR Wooded. It's a,"WARN" right?

 

 

That is a warn indeed, and that tr8 is a cracking machine too, winch was put to work on the first day, only down side was the plug was in a bit of a delicate position but we never knocked it.

Comes in great use, speak to forst for a winch bracket, this was on the tr8, it makes a tracked machine a very versatile tool

 

I'll give them a bell today, and you just hooked it up to the existing battery no bother?

looks like a neat addition although id imagine you could tip/or drag the chipper easily enough.

Redwood want about £100 for the mounting plate and tried to sell me a 5 and a half tonne winch to fit it for about 700 quid!

 

I was quick to point out the chipper weighs 1.3 tonne

Get a ground anchor or tie down to a tree mate👍

More the point I aint got 700 quid to spend on a winch! Planning on getting a cheap ebay one.

 

Redwood said it will only fit a warn though, which I'm not sure about

I knocked a winch mount up out of plate & 4" box section and mounted this little winch on the shoot coupling to help the chipper along embankments it's super easy to take on n off and no tools needed cost £125 off the bay and saved the day on many occasions

It might only weigh 1.3 ton but bogged down, perhaps stuck in a ditch, tracks not able to climb up a solid earth step, needing to be dragged up hill the resistance plus the dead weight will need significantly more than 1.3t pulling power plus a bit extra so you're not over exerting the winch
