Jon. I never hear of flooding in the Tyne valley leading into Newcastle and the north sea. why? Because Europe's largest man made forest kielder soakes up all the rainfall no problem. the proof is there for all to see.

The forest I don't think does a great deal I'm sure the dam saved a lot in the north Tyne valley and Tyne valley though .

We are in the forest it floods despite being surrounded by stands of Sitka , the drainage put in actually for the trees probably encourages quicker run off !
