Last month I saw tons of the stuff dockside both Estonia and Latvia.

 

Slightly different note - last week I saw tons and tons of beech in Slovakia, it wasn't the best quality for milling so presumably gong for firewood also.

might consider beech if it was processor size but not birch

Just wondering if any body has had good and bad experiences with Baltic imports, regarding quality of wood and the financial side e.g paying for it and then NO wood turns up !!!

Still a great believer in "If something is cheap,it is cheap for a reason".

I thought some of the stuff from Montrose was Birch from Norway. Don't know the trading agreement they have with the EU but id always try and get local if possible.

 

If the FC stopped planting stupid stuff on commercial sites ( Hawthorn, Poplar, Alder) there might be a chance of future supplies
