And don't work for free.

 

 

 

There's a difference between offering to work for free and working for free.

Any decent employer would give you something in exchange, not always money could be old kit, training course, firewood.

However if someone phoned me up asking for work but had no quals and no experience and wanted paid I'd be reluctant.

Firewood? Old kit? Seriously?

If someone phoned me asking for work and he dragged brash/chipped all day he'd get money, not logs or a rotten old harness.

Not every company can afford another man on the books but want to help some one out get experience.

I worked for a year like this on my days off just to get experience and now I own a big company so clearly it does work

Aye, got a pair of chainsaw trousers after a month and then an old saw and they paid for my chainsaw tickets and could take as much firewood as I wanted.

I found experience in this industry is worth a lot when your just starting.
