Most new saws now have an auto oiler, the screw is to adjust the flow rate. The old saws like my 090 have a manual oiler, which you have to pump to push the oil thru to the bar. Some saws have both manual and auto oilers, such as the Husky 3120. Believe me, the modern way is far easier!!

If you want to see BIG saws, look out for the Predator saw, its a serious beast, heres a link for you, so you can follow its exploits on the competitiion circuit: http://gypoclimber.com/showthread.php?t=6945

Most of the big old classics such as the 125 Mac and 2100 Homelite had both an auto oiler in addition to a thumb button.Stihl, when they still had good sense put a thumb oiler on the 084 in addition to the auto oiler. Many prefer the 084 to the 088 or MS 880.Nice saw, plenty of power.

i like the ability to put more oil on when im milling, specifically went for a 084 for that reason, got mine shipped from canada at about half the price of one over here would have cost. Got quiet a few spares shipped with it like oiler, coil and clutch in fact the bits that are likely to get killed by milling (084 parts are really price over here! :cussing:) and its great with the 17" oregon bar thats on it so so fast :vroam:

one other question, does anyone run skip chain in the UK? i have just swapped my 36" chain from skip to full compliment and it doesnt seem to allow it clear the kerf quick enough, it keeps packing it with so much sawdust that its slowing the saw. Maybe im just trying to get through the cut to fast?
