Got no input on the helmet, just that you mentioned about your helmet being smelly! Mine literally crawls away, it's rank.. I wash the padding every now and then but it doesn't last. I'd be interested to hear anyone that has experience with a lid that doesn't kick up after a week of wearing it!

Yeah I've tried all sorts but as time goes on its getting worse and worse. I think it's well past its sell buy now if I'm honest. The one thing I did start doing was wear a tight beanie hat to stop the sweet getting to the lid but no good in the summer when most needed.

Is it a climbing helmet ? I'd have gone for the climber's talk section :D

Fair point, I should have thought about it a little longer

One of the boys at work has one,but after 3 days of dark side of the force, luke i am your father and your powers are weak old man jokes,he retired it.

Tbf its rated as a really safe helmet-pity it makes you look like a helmet too.

Lol true but I'm happy to look like a helmet if I'm comfy, the jokes will just go over my pfanner protos covered head ;-)

I've had one for a long time now but I've stopped using it after about 18 months I find it heavy, hot, & my ears could not cope with the poor protection. I've gone back to a petzl

Invest in a sweathawg skull cap. I bought one each for my mate and I. Soaks up all the sweat and let's it evaporate through the top. Lots of positives in that you get no sweat in your eyes, helmet doesn't stink, your head stays cool in summer and warm in winter. They come in from the US and are well worth the money.

As for the Protos; I have one after swearing I would never wear one. Comfy as although I find the hearing protection lacking a little compared to the petzl assembly. You definitely get the feeling of being well protected but they don't fit big heads that well and I still find them incredibly expensive for what they are.

As per above. Have a look at the Sweathawg. Purpose designed to stop sweat getting in your eyes. Comfy and cool. Just make sure you get the short skull cap otherwise your ear muffs won't fit snug. You end up looking like the pope when you take your helmet off but I'm past caring. Washable too.

I used to use sanitary towels under my helmet / goggles when I raced motocross. Low profile, super absorbent, and keeps the sweat at bay — you do get funny looks when it's stuck to your head though :blushing:

Edit; this was before the days of Sweathawgs - gotta take a look at those :thumbup1:

Had a protos for about a mnth now. Super comfy and really adjustable. Can put up with the bulkiness(which you don't notice when wearing it) when it protects so well. Summer will be interesting to test the ventilation
