Good to watch,but i cant help thinking if you dont know this basic stuff you shouldnt be using a saw in a tree in the 1st place.Thanks for posting though Darrin

 

Utube is a marvelous place to find things out, and its thanks to men and women like this fella that those curious can see how its done...

Agreed,but the theme in the vid is too show how to use different notches whilst in tree cutting.Now thats all good and proper but anyone who has aspirations to climb and use a chainsaw in tree would have knowledge of these techniques because theyve passed there basic felling tickets,so -to me-it seems like some people would take a saw up a tree and start cutting away without the proper training because they watched a youtube vid on the subject.just my opinion

Well you wouldn't be wrong in my case, I haven't got "a ticket", never had a ticket and no intention of getting a ticket..

 

However, if and when I do my next tree, I'll understand why the pro's use certain techniques as apposed to my way of doin things..

 

Which is usually climb to as high as I dare, judge the weight of the bit at the top to be lobbed, (if I can push it I'm in the right ball park), and chop it without the hinge..

 

Now I know how to to send it down without the thing flying into the nearest green house... LOL

Jesus mate be extra careful,your giving me the fear!

Im not against people making a couple of quid doin tree work but get yourself some training,it opens your eyes to how dangerous arboriculture is.You say climb as high as i dare and judge the weight if the bit to be lobbed,you dont instill confidence in me.Indeed we all had to learn,and ive had my share of **** your pants moments but its the training that gives you the knowledge to deal with these issues.Be careful please
