ropeguide, vt and hitch climber all the way, takes a bit of getting used to after so many years with a prussik, but once you get in the way of it, its great. dont be scared to ask stuff, thats how i converted. i am not as fit as i used to be but i managed 40 feet straight up a sycamore the other day after coming down for a cuppa, no probs with out stopping for a breather, and i wasnt goosed after it. for long assents you can just put a spike in your rope, put hte hitch further up and just arm over arm all the way up, i just need to get a pantin now aswell

The honey brother set-up is a good start, only once you've worn out the stitched eye to eye prussik i'd just buy cord of the reel.

I'm using ocean poly 10mm and get around 1 month but i don't always climb everyday, when i do it can need replacing sooner depends on the climbing. I also use a homemade ropeguide which increases wear a little more than a standard cambium saver.
