Best type of chain for dry seasoned wood.

Has anyone tried the carbide chains?

 

 

 

I wonder how do they really work.

 

 

Yeah we tried one a few years ago on a 460 it was alright but I'd still rather a sharp full chisel! we were using it for levelling stumps along a big fence line we were assuming that the stems had ingested grit, stones, chain link etc but every time I hit a bit of wire it sheared a cutter or two off so it only lasted a day or two

Don't think they are of much benefit really as you would need a green grit wheel to sharpen them and when you hit something they tend to get knocked off anyway .

Actually they seem to sharpen ok on a diamond disc, I only get discards and haven't a saw to try them on atm but will soon.
