Stihl 038 AV Magnum

Hi hope some one can help i have a 038av saw and it will not run right what so ever. i got a replacement carb and still not playing at all.And now winter is upon us and work booming with tree work i could do with this saw so if you have some advice on what to do would be brill thanks

Ok so not the carb . Duff spark plug ? Air filter blocked ? Air leak somewhere ?.... Fuel line , impulse line , carb boot , crank seals etc .

Have you checked for the obvious like air leaks

 

That's an old school saw so its had plenty of time for seals to harden

 

That was a great saw in its day, (I can still feel my fingers tingling now), but its been a while since it was front line kit.

 

If you rely on it as an earning tool it might be time to cut your losses and go for something a bit more this decade

I feel your pain. I still have an 038, absolutely love it. They don't make em like that these days. As others have said, air leak sounds likely

treequip Stubby thanks will have a look for a up grade but also strip is down and do all the seals as well then

lol im still getting use to this site but the 038 been a good saw for me and had lots of work for her this why i dont want to let it go but think i may have to get a new one today

OK, the saw doesn't run right:confused1: What doesen't it do? Idle, rev out, bogging, no power, splutters, revs too high, low???

 

It is a bit like saying to a doctor thet you don't feel right, put some meat on the bone and we may be able to pin point the fault although many of the common faults have been mentioned and the carb was the most likely issue - did it change the fault or running at all?

with the old carb on it would rev up so took saw to a stihl dealer and sed it was the carb.. so got new carb and now its bogging down and wher you adjust the carb it will rev up i just pick up a carb boot so hoping to get that on now
