Dear Chipper owners,

 

Mrs Idiot and I are looking to hire a chipper (with or without owner) for a day to chip up the tops from a load of cricket bat willows. All material is below 4".

 

Does anyone in or around Suffolk have a suitable machine, and would they be willing to relinquish it for a day sometime in the next couple of weeks? Also, what would you need to charge?

Not in my experience. Plenty of epicormic growth on lengths of timber stacked though.

I believe you need a few buds to become roots and enough wood to hold the sugars/starches required for the buds to root.

Yes! Used to be an old utility cutter trick to chip or stack willow brash under or by overhead lines. Crack willow requires 1" square to regrow
