any tips for cutting green heart?

I had the displeasure of cutting yarmouth pier up when i was commercial diving. it went through chain like it was made of granite, on an 18"square lump we would need about 3-4 chains on each leg. Using a Stanley hydraulic chainsaw, took some time and i was told not to get any splinters as its a bit poisonous, causes blood poisoning and you can get septicaemia!

The sawdust is horrible bright yellow and yes supposed to be not the best for you

i've just had a butchers at serenity drums and they are works of art.

 

i'm surprised that they use timbers with such an open pore structure like oak and iroko as i thought that this would inhibit the movement of sound in the wood but they are obviously happy with the sounds that they make.

 

 

i did have to correct one of their posts though as they said that ekki is rare (no it's not) and that it's in the top 5 hardest wood list (no it's not) but that's just me being a insufferable knowitall...
