The Lidl Florabest grass strimmer....

I have an oregon jet cut head on mine. Works fine with 2.4mm desert vortex line, struggles with the bigger flexiblade line. Gets a bit bogged down with the thicker stuff. I think the best option is to use the bump head with the vortex line - feeds fine, wears well and gives a good cut. Will be using it on brambles, nettles and balsam this weekend.

Portek also do a precut line head. I use 4 mm diamond edge or the Portek line in mine, cuts almost anything if you keep the revs up.

The Oregon mulching head arrived. Am I supposed to sharpen it before fitting it? (doesn't seem very sharp).

And which way up should it be fitted?

cheers, Steve

No need to sharpen pointed bits facing the ground and bring blade down onto material you will be surprised how quickly you will demolish a bramble patch and not much left to clear up

Fitted the Oregon two blade mulching head to the Florabest today and it worked super dooper.

I'd normally scythe brambles but you cant compare with the mulching abilities of a brushcutter.

So heres a big thumbs up to the Oregon two blade mulching head, awesome.

Cheers, Steve

p.s.... I'm awaiting delivery of a Portek fixed line head too (the pro aluminium version). Looking forwards to trying that out on grass paths.

The Portek Power Strim Pro head arrived yesterday.... first impressions are that it's very simple and has a good weight to it. They make a plastic head version too but this 'pro' aluminium version looks like it'll stand up to more abuse.

I've not used it yet though....

cheers, Steve

I have one of these heads and the first thing to do is drill a couple of shallow holes to take the spanner that yu use to take the nut off a disc grinder as the head self tightens quite hard

The head came with a small metal bar to help with undoing it.... hasnt yours got that?

cheers, steve
