Husky T540 brake band problems

So I fitted a new brake band to the saw last week as it had snapped. Put it all back together fine, started it up today and was all working fine.

 

2 hours later from when it first started the brkw band had snapped again. Just wondering whats the reason for this happening as it was working fine before it snapped again. Thanks

Has it snapped in the same place or a different place?

Is the cover sitting properly? I'm wondering if it's rubbing while the saw is in use? Used to have an echo top handle that never sat quite right

Where it has snapped, is the band worn through by the abrasion of the clutch drum or is it as it was fitted but fractured?

 

If it has worn through then I would suspect the fitting/siting of the band, if it has fractured then it may be a manufacturing fault but unlikely on a safety system part!

Yeah, snapped in the exact same place.. Will have another look in the morning

That looks very worn i.e. Very thin where it's snapped but it could be the photo. If it is that thin then there is definitely a problem of the clutch drum rubbing on the brake band.

Plastic clutch cover is probably warped, take it to a dealer.

Has it broken on the hole in the band ? The design was changed after a lot of premature failures repaired under warranty have you got the newer type of band ? They might be getting rid of old stock.

Yeah it is very worn where it has snapped, how shall I go about fixing it? I've put some grease on the clutch drum but can't see that working long term?

That wouldn't solve the problem, if anything, you've created an additional problem of a slippy drum when the brake is applied.
