Sweet chestnut sleepers

Hi guys,

Would anyone care to say what they think these sweet chestnut mini sleepers measuring 6"x3" by 8' are worth?

i think maybe £25-£35 per ft3

And as they are? For sleepers there's not much need for them to be dried. Each one is exactly one cubic foot if my calculations are correct.

But only if someone needs that specific size. I would have thought you would have more chance of selling them as boards. If someone then needed a specific size, they could then be cut down to the size they wanted.

you might want to go a bit cheaper if your selling green. considering that they can be used green £20-£25 per sleeper seems about right

I have actually just re advertised as boards because I thought then they won't be in direct competition with softwood sleepers.

I quoted a guy at £10 a sleeper but now even at that price he seems to of decided he doesn't want them after all...

Personally think 10 quid is too cheap, the guy who's changed his mind is yet another one of those people who don't appreciate timber or the effort and time that goes into producing it!

I think it's to cheap to, I would love to get more for them! I would be over the moon with £15.

Just have to keep pushing for it I guess.

Normal softwood sleepers go for around £15 and oak for £30 average size 2.4m , 200 x 100 mm. So I would say £15 each at least.
