Bio hydraulic oil.

Our processor uses ISO 32 hydraulic oil to lube the chain which from the chains point of view seems to work fine but I must end up breathing in this vaporised oil Have looked at adding a separate tank but it's a bit of a fiddle. Just had a quick google and it appears there are several biodegradable hydraulic oils on the market.

Anyone any experience of them and just because it biodegrades is it likely to be any safer to inhale?

I don't know about inhalation, but when we fit it to chippers, it comes with the warning not to mix it with anything else and change it more frequently as it degrades so much faster. Which at six times to cost is frustrating.

Guess I wont be going down that route then. It takes best part of 40 litres to fill it up

You also worried about breathing the vapours? I could break into the oil line by the tank and add a separate oil tank but had hoped there might be a simple option.

In a nut shell: NO! Doesn't matter if it's bio degradable or not. No oil vapour in vaporised form is healthy to your inhalation!

Presume if I fit a separate tank and run on rapeseed oil it would be OK?

Just come across this at an affordable price 90 odd quid for 25 litres seems pretty good but is what Spacey says right?
