Hi Guys,

Regarding the Riko grabs we currently have two manufactures, both of which have been pointed out on this thread:

The 'Country' grabs come from the manufacture who builds our small 1.5 - 5 ton timber trailers and cranes. They are a great size for light weight use with excavators (3 ton tops), small pedestrian skid steers, small cranes and more.

But as pointed out all you need to bear in mind is that they are designed for small timber cranes and not really diggers so a careful operator will help increase its life (like any machine, and all grabs have their limits). On the other hand we have sold at least 40 of these which are attached to all sorts of machines and not had any direct negative feedback.

If you increase the weight of the grab by adding more reinforcements then it'll reduce your lift capacity. The smallest 70cm opening grab with 1 ton rotator will weigh around 40kg at a guess.

The Uniforest grabs come from our manufacture of winches, skidding grabs and some splitters. They are stronger than the Country grabs but designed more for the larger machine. Again up to a limit.

The 1100, 1300 and 1500 grabs are all now made of Hardox. I think the gripping force is around 6 ton on the 1100 and 9 ton on the 1800. The 1100 grab weighs about 75kg plus rotator.

All made in Europe with an EC stamp

No thread hijacking intended Pedrod and I hope you don't mind me posting :001_smile:

Cheers,

Calum @ Riko

I've got a uniforest 1500 hardox, it's pretty lightweight compared to my old pulp grab, but I'm only running it on a Palfinger lorry loader crane so it's very light duty really.

If I wanted something heavy duty I'd look at hultdins, cranab, or loglift.
