Best old tractor with high flow rate for splitter ?

How about an industrial tractor, something like an MF40 with crankshaft driven pump on the front of the engine?

PTO pumps are great, but the pump is just the start - Oil reservoir, breather, filter head and filter, pipework / fittings etc. and fabrication costs.

 

Can be almost the same cost to buy an old IH tractor, which is what I am looking to do.

 

I bought an ex mod pto power pack for £90, and put it on a 35. Amazing speed at about 1000 rpm on the seed dial, so not even at 540 pto speed. And does not use much diesel:thumbup1:
