I'm after a one man auger for a fencing job I have come up. Can anyone recommend one apart from the stihl one.

Cheers

Why not stihl? It is the only one the I know of that has a clutch which is a must.

Seconded:thumbup1: also if its soft ground its just as quick with a grafter and shovels, if it hard ground a one man auger will struggle at best, if its lots of holes then hire a mini digger with auger.

Absolutely useless unless in very soft ground, totally agree with the above comments !

Most of the time I use a 60mm auger to loosen the soil then clear with spades. Works well with the hard clay around here.

Chalk and flint here, so useless :thumbup:

I'm not saying not the stihl. That's the one I think I'll be buying. Just wondered if there were any other options with a clutch.

Cant you hire/borrow one to see if its what you want before buying one?
