Lake District

Just back from the Lakes and if you wanted to map the rooting systems of a few common trees then all you need to do is stroll around Derwent Water. A Silver Birch, Oak and Scots Pine all obliged.

There are some monster trees around the Lakes too. Huge specimens of Sycamore, Sitka Spruce and others. Worth a visit. It did not stop raining all week and returning home felt like I was on the continent as we'd not seen anyone in a t-shirt all week and we'd been wrapped up in waterproofs fending off single digit temperatures!

A few other pics for your amusement and viewing. I am sorry for the landscape pics but they would not stand up on download.

Beautiful place to visit and I often find it better when persisting it down as quieter and more atmospheric. Got a good picture of me at about 15 sat on that big spruce limb drinking a brew, would love to know how long it's stood there!

That big Sitka at aria force is a particular favourite of mine. The picture just doesn't do it justice as to how big it really is!

There is a good cell collapsed/elephants foot Monkey Puzzle nearby, yes, although for a reason only known to me and the wife I think it looks more like Nora Batty's tights...

Did you manage to find the money tree at Aria too?
