Lorry bed question

The bed on my lorry has developed some holes (quite large ones) thanks the abuse it gets doing tree work.

I obviously need to replace it asap, what's the best material? I was thinking of using shuttering ply or trailer board but not sure it'll be strong enough... Perhaps cover in sheet metal?

Cheers

Mark

It would help to know what the vehicle is used for and what the GVW is

I've seen keruing for sale as lorry beds but it works out expensive. I think that's what's on there at the moment.

I'm swaying towards some sort of ply and a top cover of steel. Mainly for easy of replacement. I'm running out of time for maintenance...

Hi Jon, some photos for you. Really handy bit of kit but not sure what to do about converting it to a tipper. I don't want to move the crane's but have been warned off a side tipper...

Oh it also really grippy as you can tell by 2 of the photos😁😁😁

I've always preferred crane behind the cab, not limited what you put on it for off road work, but different strokes and all that

John, I know what you're saying and I was planning to move the crane forward and put a tipper on the back. However, I think you get more reach with the crane on the back, marginal I know, but every bit counts! What truck do you run and why do you prefer the crane behind the cab?

Cheers

Had an mk and was debating front or back for crane, IMO it's better behind cab cos can chuck any length up m the back without worrying, yeah you lose a bit of reach but advantages out weighed that

You say it's a grippy truck on the grass, thats likely to be because the crane's hanging on the ass end. Move it forward and you'll end up with just another truck that's cack on grass especially when empty and has lost the great reach you've got at the moment
