Converting Predator grinder back from multitip

Having read all the blurb about the marvels of multi tip grinding teeth I bought a new predator a couple of years back with the multi tip flywheel.

It probably is 25% quicker than some other systems but I am serously thinking of converting to the green tooth system.

Why - I find it takes ages to sharpen the teeth otherwise you spend a fortune on new teeth (my last order was over £500). Yes I pass on the cost to the customer but the teeth just seem soooo costly.

Anyone on here love multitip and willing to swap their old style flywheel for a multi tip one? Or has anyone got a spare flywheel for sale?

Its the hydraulically driven 460 (pre turntable model)

I have a pedestrian hydraulic driven machine . Powered by a 20hp Kohler engine . This is fitted with the multi tip system and it is bloody amazing . One allen head bolt per tooth is great .This makes for super fast changing . The only gripe for me is not being able to sharpen in between the teeth ? Have you ever considered selling your un sharpened and abused multi tip teeth ? I d buy them  Pm me lets get a deal on

I sharpen mine on a green wheel ... Silicone Carbide . By the time Im done with the blighters they are as small as a peanut lol .

If sharpening is slow, take a high performance angle grinder with diamond disk.

When it's decent it doesn't drop rpms, that makes the difference! 12.000 rpms vs 9.000 under load, 30% speed.

On a 460 I think you only ever need to change the 2 leaders, ignore the others until they break.

The only weak point is, that the the leader teeth someday start beeing not at the same depth in the wheel and you find yourself combining with used/new keepers, which results in 2-3 teeth replacements per position:thumbdown:.

They raised the price without any announcement about 20% in my country, that's impudently imho.

I don't get how patrick can approve this.

White noise, why would you sharpen between the teeth, these edges barely ever touch the wood?!

That inner edge was sharp when new lol so why not . Im just a tad over the top with keeping things sharp . I can see where your coming from though

I do try to get my old multi tip teeth .... Squared off when they are smaller as I find they cut better . I only do this due to the cutting area being reduced in size .

before swapping to another system it may be worth trying the Rhino stump teeth .They will fit on the Multitip wheel

you will have no trouble sharpening them as they are shaped like 'half a spoon' and there is plenty of carbide on them

Thanks for that info, I had no idea.

Just had a look on-line and they look good.

I've left a message with the UK suppliers -

Fingers crossed:thumbup::thumbup:

Ha ha ha -

Never encountered a company that seem so dis-interested.

I left an email message via the web site and left a phone message.

After a few days I phoned for the fifth time and got an answer.

I was told that the teeth are usually supplied with a cutting wheel only (what about spares for those who buy those????).

He said he would get back to me - ho ho ho no idea how long ago that was.

If thats what their service is like I'll give them a miss.

I'm not allowed to mention the company but you can track them down via a google search. They specialise in small 'hand held' grinders named after a range of european mountains followed by an oval chocolate covered ice cream starting with M.

I'm looking elsewhere

I like multi tip for speed of grind and easy changes,I don't sharpen much as the wheels are expensive and the dust v bad for heath, I normally tickle them up once or twice and then get rid,if you want 5hem white noise pm me.
