Has anybody else had or heard of this happening? the cutting wheel has shifted over and is now hitting the guarding! The bearings are fine and greased after ever use and it can't have done much over 20 hrs since buying it new.

The exact same thing happened to my mates, his was about 20hrs old too. It's a bit of a big to do, you need to loosen the taper lock and move it back, proper pain.

Or contact the dealer and get them to sort it.

That's what ive done, and they're dropping of a replacement so i can finished the job:thumbup1:

Still shouldn't happen and its cost me time and money.

It's a poor design IMO, the bandit is a better design cutting wheel and shaft IMO. Hope you get it sorted Scott. On a more positive note I've had the 230 chipping a huge Birch today and I was chucking whole limbs in and it boshed them no bother. It sounds awesome too!!

I got a builders bag wrapped around the cutter wheel on full chat and it slid the whole lot over! its a bit involved getting the whole wheel, shaft, bearings off. once its off just unbolt the taper lock tap it out, slide it over and re-fit. Apart from that occasion it has never budged an inch.

This is the second time it's happened! I've only done two jobs since it was last repaired! So I was cursing a little today saying that's it I'm buying a HB20.

My local chainsaw repair shop did it last time as he does alot of kit repairs on chippers etc, it's going bk to Orange plant this time and if it goes again I'll definitely be getting a bandit. At least the thought of my new Chipper coming cheers me up Hodge.

I've seen this on larger grinders, if the shaft has worn it will be difficult to stop it moving.

Dean my grinder hasn't done much more than 20 hrs! It definitely shouldn't of happened.

I have to be Proffessional, it's not your fault IMO as it's not a part that needs regular adjustment like a belt or wear part. Either the grub screws have come loose or the taper lock. I would cover it if it was our machine, hope you get it sorted.
