Is the UK really that short on unmanaged natural areas that you need to start breaking your trees to provide bug habitat? Why not just set some areas aside and let the trees do there own thing naturally, which would make the bugs and birds happier in the long run anyways?

 

Pikeys have been making insect havens in every gate way and layby round here for years.

If thats becomes a common practise some of the uncertified, fly by night, hacks will be able to advertise as proffesionals in that catigory. It kinda looks like a poorly advanced topping technique. How many times have you driven by a homeowner out on a ladder halfway through a removal where the tree looks something like those.

 

Yeah not a fan, maybe close minded but i would need some hard and extensive facts to make me think otherwise.
