I clean out the torx drives, get a sizeable punch and bounce a hammer on the top of each one then give it a stout belt with the torx drive in an impact driver. I have bust a tool but hey ho! that is lifes rich tapestry. That is why tools are sold in singles too....

Sorry - will add - this was a 24hour planned project, did give them some whacks to shock them, before during and after the gas torch, acetoned, wire brushed the heads and got the compressor on them till they were squeaky clean. After all that shouldn't have to go out and buy an impact driver just in cae.

 

Life's tapestry may be rich but I'm not - at least not after buying a new cs100.

When you say impact driver do you mean an air powered one? I have an 18v dewalt impact driver that I use for fencing (driving screws), would I be able to use thus if I got a torx bit to fit the Chuck? I have seen mechanics use cordless impact drivers but not sure if it's the same kind if one that I have?!

I think he means the impact screw driver that is designed to be hit with a hammer .They work well but they can shear the heads off .

You got it! The cheap thing that shears torx drives when you whack them! Torque them back up to the correct setting as listing in the book - available as a PDF off of our website.

I'd read that greenmech had revised there torque recommendation for the bolts. Can't remember exactly off hand but it's about 5 lower than originally listed in the manual. Doing that has worked fine for me.
