Im looking to obtain my cs30+31 at some point this year, i live in burton on trent in the midlands, looking on the nptc site base @ penkridge seems about the closes/best choice for me. I just wondered if anyone has been there recently and could tell me what its like? i think for both courses and assessment it costs around £640, is that about the going rate? i believe you have to take your own gear, a chainsaw with a 15" bar, is the correct?

Many thanks mark

If your with Ian Morgan at base then you wont go wrong. Dont know any of the other guys there.

£640 sounds about right. Some places will supply all the kit, others dont. If you have your own saw that works properly, then its not a bad idea to use it for the assessments, as you will be more familiar with it.

Is it the rodbaston college? if so it's good! i went through them in nov. the instructor was clive harrison. cant say enough about the level of training. I also borrowed al the kit as part of the course free of charge. all the best.

I can fully recomend BASE. I did my CS30 & 31 & brush cutting there last year. Ian Morgan is a top bloke, his training is very good. He has spent a long time working within the industry. Ill be going back this year to do my CS38 & 39

You can borrow all the kit you need from them.

If you take out a Total Arb subscription you can save 10% on your course costs.

BASE is located on the Buxtons site on the A34 between Cannock & Stafford. You'll get plently of time to go into there shop & spend a fortune.
