The great thing about a Posch are the ergonomics - everything is in the perfect place for the operator and access to the splitting chamber is ideal.

May retrofit with a shorter ram though, as no point in having a 20" stroke when splitting 10" long logs - just adds to the cycle time.

For owner operators speeding up the ram operation is a straightforward engineering process.

So even though the Posch is great now straight out of the box - it can be made greater! :thumbup1:

something to compare when your on about harvesters is they are cutting standing timber with minimal dirt on them firewood coming in usually has quite a bit of mud on it whether splashing from roadside traffic or just ground conditions of where its been stacked, we used to still rotate a set of 5 chains on the harvester and they do need quite a bit of sharpening daily.

Only time I get mud on my cord is if a dopey driver picks up soil with the grab had the same driver bring 800 t in the yard and he could not stack load unload and kept getting great clods of soil he soon learned not to do it sadly he never learned to stack I'm still finding cord going the opprrsite way to stack

we had 1 load come in and i don't think there was a stick in it that didn't have mud on it had to drop every grabfull from about 20 ft to knock the stuff off.

Would of sent it back and told the driver to sort himself messy stacks are one thing but dirty timber is another

i get quite a lot of shards but bag them up and sell them as kindling.. my customers love them. so no waste and get paid for them.. between selling them and the sawdust it covers cost of diesel for running the machine
