I thought Portuguese laurel perhaps?

 

 

It's unusual whatever it is, not portuguese laurel though.

 

Kinda feel I've seen it before but no Id I'm afraid, flowers look like viburnum to me but just don't know.

I don't mean this to be as stupid as it sounds but are the tree and the close up the same plant? The close up is very reminiscent of Viburnum (Kev!) tinus but the tree isn't.
