Husky 435 v stihl ms211 or equivalent

I am looking for a general purpose saw, for firewood, landscaping and dealing with small trees and dealing with bigger stuff after a storm. Hence I am looking at 14-15 inch bars.

 

The husky 435 looks good on paper, being lighter than the stihl 211, with similar power, and a lower chain speed. The vibration levels of the husky also seem low, but stihl don't seem to advertise theirs as readily.

 

Any advice?

The MS211 is 35cc & the 435 is 40cc, the 435 is slightly cheaper on FR Jones & Sons

 

The Stihl pulls a 3/8th low profile chain & the 435 pulls a .325 chain, this is slightly heavier than the Stihl chain so I suspect they will cut around about the same, but the Husky's .325 chain should last longer before sharpening. Lower chain speed shouldnt be a deterrant as its torque in the cut that counts, be careful you may get addicted to it!

 

I would buy the Husqvarna, but thats my preference as some of the gimmicky stuff on small Stihls winds me up.

i have the husky135 and its twice a better saw than the Stihlms211 i have that saw aswell if you was close to me i let yo try the both out the little 135 surprised my big time got to much gunt and quick in the cut to

Rubbish. The 135 is a faster revving saw, but it feels like a cheap saw, unlike the 211. The husky also comes with crap running gear, unlike the Stihl. The extra 5cc should put it a mile ahead, but it doesn't.

 

I'm a Husky person. In this case however, the Stihl wins hands down.

the ms211 i have is pants and its only 8 months the 135 is a better saw was meant to say its seems to have twice the grunt as the ms211 and there is not a lot in the build quality compared to the stihl and the ms cost a chunk more than the 135

I recently cut with an MS231 (40cc) & to be honest, despite sharpening it as best I could, it diddnt impress at all, my MS250 (45cc) seemed a lot quicker.

 

However, see if you can have a go with both of them & consider which dealer will give you best support & go with your gut reaction.

I have a 210, but its almost idential to the newer 211 (isnt it??) Great small saw, IMO.

 

It is a great little saw. Apart for 1 oil cap which perished and 1 new fuel line it has never given us any bother in 12 years of abuse.

MS231 but still pulls 3/8th p ? & yes of course they are competitors.

 

If you're really looking for the best small Stihl get an MS241 & the probably the best small Husky a 543, 346 or 545 depending on what you want it for.

 

But at its price point the 435 is the better of the two you suggest IMO.

My 211 has been faultless but I suspect you won't go wrong with either. You local dealer should be considered and might be the deciding factor.
