In my experience, Glyphosate / roundup is not that effective being sprayed. It may check the growth for a couple of weeks, thats about it, even with repeated applications at a high dosage.

In the past, I've used Broadsword, made by United Phospherous to really good effect. Not to pricey (about £75 for 5 litres from memory) and really effective on all the tough woody weeds also like Gorse and Bramble as well as jkw. Any product with 2,4-D, Dicamba and triclopyr in will do the trick at the right volume.

Just reading back through the posts - don't mow it or strim it or cut it when still alive, there's a chance you will spread it to another site through any bit's of stem material on your equipment if not very careful.

Are you saying you can achieve eradication in one year 90% of the time??

No, 90% control of that patch, you may not hit each plant with enough chemical to kill it, but you would with others, so you would have to reapply on the remaining patch.

Strimming would be a bit extreme but no weed including jkw survives repeated sustained cropping, simple sharp grass hook or jungle knife if its a small patch so not to spread it.

seriously do you guys all just use glyphosate

am I the only one who actually uses picloram and just sprays the foliar area, 100% kill off in one application, is it because you guys want return visits :confused1: or am I missing the bigger picture

I know what you mean, but I think the problem with picloram is the enviromental issues of damaging surrounding plants trees etc. and the cost of the product, and to get 100% kill in one treatment is unlikely If you are using the correct rates, and not overdosing perhaps?

I think my industry Is going to have big problems, if they don't regulate the use and application of all pesticides soon. As an example you can buy 480g glyphosate of eBay

The environment agency are testing ground water and drinking water for it's presence at the moment, and due to the water frame directive an ec rulings It could be banned if unacceptable levels are found.

Now where's that bottle of weedkiller, so I can have another drink hiccup
