There is all of the above which obviously is the good thing about it. And there are other factors so its different at different places. Ive been told by a freelance climber, a very experienced climber, that i should be on 120 so its just made me think. I mean i think 120 would be the max

I think that's pretty good money for on the books. It is down here in Dorset anyway. Works out at roughly £24k a year for a climber with 2 years experience which is not bad. If you are exceptional and they can't do without you then maybe they will pay more or if you ask for more, maybe they will just look to get a cheaper climber in ??!!

Hello mate. I think the sigh was because us oldies have heard it all before. I know you think that 2 years is a lot but really you've just broken into it. You think you're good now just wait a few more years. Push your luck and open some dialogue with your boss sell yourself. You are worth what you are worth to your employer that goes for self employeds as well. Good luck.

Loads of jobs out there mate my advice is apply for other jobs get the interview and ask for the money you would like! If they offer it then u can either take them up on it or go back to your boss in a very strong position and request more money. Lots of companies are advertising for work just now and getting no applicants! It's a good time to be an Arborist!

These threads annoy me- people always think there worth more than they are.

I had one guy said he's leaving unless I can pay him what he's been offered elsewhere- ($2 more p/h)

I said go for it- two weeks later he was asking for his job back.

I pay my guys slightly less but in return they have job security, regular hours, get to order the gear they want, the best PPE there is and training to improve there skill set.

Money isn't everything.

This is just my opinion.
