I nearly bought one of the electric plitters myself a couple of months ago but got a wetterlings large splitting axe instead, as the maul and wedges were killing my back and neck. I've no regrets, the new axe cut like a knife thru butter and is light and doesn't do me in. DON'T GET A SPLTTER FOR DOMESTIC USE JUST GET THE BEST AXE !! Its the puppy's parts.

For an 80 year old? Are you joking?

I have had a Logmaster 4 tonne splitter for about 10 years. At first it was ridiculed by my neighbour who knew all about log splitting, but then borrowed it once he saw how efficient it was. It cost £400 back in the day, although I think that they are around £200 these days. I also have a Fiskars X27, but the control and accuracy of the Logmaster cutting at 20 inch is great. You are welcome to come and try them both if you are in the area. By the way, I came across a 75 year old retired vicar who processed all his logs with the same type of electric splitter where an axe would have been too much for him. All the best.

Logmaster is a product I launched ten years ago (we were one of the first to sell these at the sub £200 price point back then). A huge success and sold over 10,000 of them in the first year so pleased to hear of a happy customer on Arbtalk and that it continues to perform for you.
