It helps to have a balanced set of cutters, correct tension on chain.

Also the technique comes with practice if how you push it through the cut.

See also the Alaskan mill winch thread it is much easier with a winch in the mill for the body and you get a better flow of cut not wrestling with the saw.

Thanks for the replies. At the moment i am just using a semi chisel chain but will get a ripping chain in the near future. Do you run chain on normal tension or less or more?
