How much do you charge for stump grinding?

A good pedestrian grinder ( sharp teeth, good belts etc) and a good operator £600/ day should be achievable and IMO any stump worth grinding has to be £80/100+VAT. However there's a lot to be said for digging and or winching out smaller stumps.

Here's what I have to say about digging/winching stumps.

Is there a word for a condition where someone believes that the equipment they have is all that's worth owning, be it truck, grinder etc. If there isn't i think it should be called Hodge's Syndrome.

Says the man with the transits and Tiny wolfs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:001_rolleyes::lol:  :biggrin:

But will go into lots of places a 4012 won't fit and the HB20 can grind anything a 4012 will;)

I run both machines.

The 4012 is a good piece of kit now the many electrical faults have been fixed but the HB20 earns as much pro-rata and yes, it can grind any size stump, it's just harder work than twiddling a remote control but at least you won't get cold operating a Sidewinder HB20!

(Or suffer gameboy thumb syndrome...)

You a clever so and so arnt you mountain man. What you fail to see is the kit I have is the best.....for my business. I have had a large grinder, big chipper, Valmet crane tractor, transit tipper and numerous other toys but I realised that they were not the best for my buissnes model. The set up I have is the best for me and that is all that matters, so take the pee all you like as I'm very happy with how I roll. :)

I charge more for stumps where I didn't remove the tree.

Two reasons at least..

The firm who took it out haven't got a grinder so no competition there,

and why should I do it at a price where the customer has just pieced together all the 'cheapest' components of what I could do as a complete job?

If they use someone else for the take-down - fine but I'm not gonna polish up an incomplete job for someone else without making GOOD money.
