I am working on a 365 special. The carb is AWOL, and I'm not sure about using an aftermarket one.

Any experiences with them?

Cheers, Adam.

My friend has one in a br420 and seems fine. Prob won't last as long as the construction won't be as good, but so far ok. Only time will tell. On the flip side you may want to "buy nice or buy twice".. If you end up replacing it a year down the line you would have spent as much if not more than buying a proper one

As, I think, all or most carbs are manufactured by companies other than the saw maker, all carbs are 'aftermarket'. Get the same make and its the same thing you'd buy from the stihl/husky/dolmar dealer.

Tillotson Carbs were first made in Toledo Ohio . They are now also made in Ireland , China and Brazil

Walbro started out in Michigan and now make their carbs assorted other country .

Zama are Japanese . Made in China, Hong Kong and USA .

Ive used several and never had a complaint or faulty one and always tuned up fine.(tbh most of them are pretty well set out the box) I wouldn't worry to much about country of origin as like stubby says even the zamas are made in china.
